Overview
Lachish and Eglon were among the southern cities whose kings Joshua defeated and which Israel conquered (Joshua 10). Lachish later became a major Judahite stronghold besieged by Assyria and Babylon. King Josiah's mother came from Bozkath (2 Kings 22:1), linking these towns to Judah's later kings.
