Quick answer

Eltolad, Chesil, and Hormah are listed. More southern cities are recorded.

Overview

Hormah recalls both Israel's earlier defeat there and later victory, a place whose name means destruction (Numbers 14:45; 21:3). Now it sits peacefully within Judah's inheritance. The Lord turns places of past judgment into possessions of His settled people.

Christ at the center

Joshua — the same name as Jesus, 'the LORD saves' — leads God's people into their inheritance, a shadow of the greater Joshua who brings us into the true rest and the promised land that remains.

How Joshua 15:30 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
