Quick answer

All the Father has belongs to Jesus, so the Spirit takes from what is Christ's and declares it. The unity of the Father, Son, and Spirit is on display.

Overview

Jesus affirms a profound sharing between the Father and Himself: everything the Father has is His. The Spirit then draws from this common store to reveal it to believers. The verse richly displays the triune relationship, the Father, Son, and Spirit acting in perfect unity to communicate divine truth to God's people.

Christ at the center

John declares him plainly: the eternal Word made flesh, the Lamb of God, the great 'I AM' — bread, light, door, shepherd, way, truth, life, resurrection — that you may believe and have life in his name.

How John 16:15 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
