Quick answer

Jesus will speak little more, for the ruler of this world is coming, yet has no claim on Him. Satan can find no sin in Christ.

Overview

As the betrayal and crucifixion approach, Jesus calls Satan 'the prince of the world,' the spiritual power behind His opponents. Yet the devil 'has nothing' in Jesus: no foothold of sin, no rightful claim. The sinless Christ goes to the cross not as a defeated victim but in willing obedience, which is why His death can atone for others rather than answer for any guilt of His own.

Christ at the center

John declares him plainly: the eternal Word made flesh, the Lamb of God, the great 'I AM' — bread, light, door, shepherd, way, truth, life, resurrection — that you may believe and have life in his name.

How John 14:30 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
