Quick answer

Job declares that even now his witness and advocate are in heaven. He appeals beyond his friends to a heavenly defender.

Overview

In a striking turn of faith, Job affirms that one in heaven vouches for him and testifies to his integrity. Amid feeling God to be his adversary, he reaches toward God as his witness and advocate. This longing for a heavenly mediator points to Christ, our advocate with the Father (1 John 2:1), who pleads the cause of his people.

Christ at the center

Job's cry for a mediator who can lay his hand on both God and man, and his confidence that 'my Redeemer lives' and will stand on the earth, reaches forward to Jesus the living Redeemer.
