Overview
The LORD pledges his own delight in Jerusalem and the end of mourning within her. This echoes the comfort that has run through Isaiah and anticipates the fuller promise that God will wipe away every tear (Revelation 21:4). It is fulfilled finally through Christ, who bears our griefs to bring everlasting consolation to his people.
