Overview
The Rabshakeh climaxes his speech by asking why anyone should think the Lord can deliver Jerusalem when no other god has resisted Assyria. This direct challenge to God's power is the height of Assyrian arrogance. It provokes the Lord's decisive answer in chapter 37, where he saves Jerusalem and judges Assyria's pride.
