Quick answer

Pharaoh gives Joseph's family the best of the land in Goshen and offers them charge over his livestock. It is a generous provision for Israel.

Overview

Pharaoh grants Israel prime land and even offers responsible positions to the capable among them. This abundant kindness exceeds what was asked, displaying God's overflowing provision through human rulers. The famine that threatened the family becomes the occasion of their secure settlement and growth.

Christ at the center

From the first promise that the seed of the woman would crush the serpent (3:15), through Abraham's blessing to all nations and Judah's coming ruler, Genesis sows every seed that flowers in Christ — the true offspring, the better Adam, the ram caught for Isaac.
