Overview
Born to Joseph and Asenath, daughter of an Egyptian priest, Manasseh and Ephraim were nonetheless grafted into the covenant people. Jacob would soon adopt them as his own (Genesis 48), so that Joseph received a double portion. This reminds us that covenant membership rests on God's gracious inclusion, not merely on natural descent.
