Quick answer

The dream was doubled because the matter is firmly established by God and will happen soon.

Overview

Joseph explains that the two dreams confirm the certainty and nearness of God's plan. The doubling is divine assurance that the events are fixed. This teaches that God's revealed word is sure and will surely come to pass.

Christ at the center

From the first promise that the seed of the woman would crush the serpent (3:15), through Abraham's blessing to all nations and Judah's coming ruler, Genesis sows every seed that flowers in Christ — the true offspring, the better Adam, the ram caught for Isaac.
