Quick answer

Abraham gives all that he had to Isaac.

Overview

Isaac receives the full inheritance, marking him as the heir of both the estate and the covenant promise. This deliberate act distinguishes the son of promise from Abraham's other children. It safeguards the line through which God's redemptive purposes, culminating in Christ, would advance.

Christ at the center

From the first promise that the seed of the woman would crush the serpent (3:15), through Abraham's blessing to all nations and Judah's coming ruler, Genesis sows every seed that flowers in Christ — the true offspring, the better Adam, the ram caught for Isaac.
