Quick answer
The guide brings Ezekiel to the east gate, the very gate facing the rising sun. The vision now reaches its climax: the return of God's glory.
Overview
After the long measuring of the temple, Ezekiel is led to the eastern gate. The east is significant, for it was by the east that God's glory had earlier departed (Ezekiel 10:18-19, 11:23). This moment sets the stage for the glorious return of God's presence, the heart of the whole vision and a foretaste of Immanuel, God dwelling with his people.
