Echoing the covenant curses of Leviticus 26, the threefold ruin—sword, beast, plague—covers every refuge: open country, ruins, strongholds, and caves. The remnant's false confidence is shattered; no hiding place secures those under God's judgment. Yet this severity prepares the way for the gospel hope that only God Himself can shelter sinners from wrath, finally accomplished in Christ.
