Jerusalem, with the temple, the law, and God's covenant, should have been far holier than Sodom and Samaria. Instead she outdid them in corruption. The principle is sobering: privilege and revelation increase accountability (compare Luke 12:48). Those nearest to God's grace incur the deepest guilt when they betray it.
