Quick answer

God says He has come down to deliver Israel and bring them to a good land flowing with milk and honey. He promises both rescue from Egypt and a rich inheritance.

Overview

God's "coming down" expresses His personal initiative to save, a pattern that culminates in the incarnation when God comes down in Christ to deliver His people. The land flowing with milk and honey signals abundant provision and fulfilled promise. Salvation here is twofold: liberation from bondage and entry into blessing, foreshadowing the gospel's redemption and inheritance.

Christ at the center

The Passover lamb whose blood turns away death, the exodus through the sea, the manna, the rock, and the tabernacle where God dwells with his people all foreshadow Jesus — our Passover, our redemption, the bread from heaven, and God-with-us in the flesh.

How Exodus 3:8 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
