Quick answer

Even if a sinner does evil repeatedly and lives long, the Preacher is sure it will go better in the end for those who fear God. Faith holds to God's justice despite appearances.

Overview

Against the visible prosperity of the wicked, Qoheleth affirms by faith that reverent fear of God is the better path and will prove so. This is a confession that trusts God's ultimate ordering of things beyond what the eye can see. It anticipates the New Testament hope that the God-fearing are secure in Christ regardless of present circumstances (Romans 8:28; Hebrews 11:6).
