Quick answer
The lender must wait outside while the borrower brings out the pledge himself. The borrower's home remains his own sanctuary.
Overview
This continues the protection of the previous verse: the creditor stands outside, and the debtor chooses and delivers the pledge. The arrangement preserves the borrower's dignity and prevents the lender from rummaging through his possessions. Such respect for the weak reflects the justice and compassion that God weaves through His law and supremely displays in Christ.
