Quick answer

From one of the four horns a small horn emerges and grows great toward the south, east, and the glorious land. A particularly hostile ruler arises against God's people.

Overview

Out of one of the four divisions comes a little horn that expands aggressively, especially toward the glorious land, Israel. Most interpreters identify this as Antiochus IV Epiphanes of the Seleucid kingdom, who fiercely persecuted the Jews; some also see in him a foreshadowing of a final Antichrist. The vision warns that opposition to God's people will arise, yet it remains within God's bounds.

Christ at the center

Daniel sees the stone cut without hands that shatters the kingdoms, and 'one like a son of man' given everlasting dominion — titles and visions Jesus claims as his own.
