Quick answer
When they fall they receive a little help, but many join them insincerely with flattery. Genuine deliverance is partial, and not all who attach themselves are sincere.
Overview
A measure of relief comes to the faithful, perhaps the early Maccabean successes, yet some join the cause hypocritically rather than in true faith. The 'little help' reminds us that ultimate deliverance does not come through human effort alone. The mixing of false adherents with the faithful is a perennial reality the church must discern, awaiting God's final purifying.
