Overview
The Babylonian king carries sacred vessels from the LORD's house and sets them in a pagan temple, a profanation of what was holy. This first removal of temple articles foreshadows the complete despoiling and destruction to come. Yet these same vessels would later be returned under Cyrus, hinting that God's purposes outlast even the desecration of his house.
