Quick answer

Only the consecrated priests and Levites could enter the temple itself, while the people kept God's command outside. Holiness was carefully guarded even in crisis.

Overview

Jehoiada insisted that none but the holy ministers enter the sanctuary, with the people observing Yahweh's charge. His concern for proper worship amid revolution highlights reverence for God's house. It reminds us that God's holiness is never to be set aside, even for urgent action.
