Quick answer
They struck the surviving Amalekites and settled in Seir permanently. It records the final defeat of a longstanding enemy of Israel.
Overview
These Simeonites destroyed the remnant of the Amalekites, Israel's ancient foe whom God had vowed to blot out (Exodus 17:14-16; Deuteronomy 25:17-19). Their victory brought a measure of fulfillment to that divine purpose. The Chronicler thus closes Simeon's account on a note of God's faithfulness in dealing with the enemies of his people.
