Quick answer

David defeated the Philistines at Baal Perazim and praised God for breaking through his enemies like a flood. He gave God the credit for the victory.

Overview

David triumphed and named the place Baal Perazim ('master of breakthroughs'), declaring that God had burst through his enemies like waters breaking out. The imagery emphasizes that the LORD, not David's military skill, won the battle. David's prompt acknowledgment of God's hand exemplifies the humility and faith that characterize true victory in God's service.
