A man living at the time of the Patriarchs, first mentioned at Gen.10.2) referred to as Javan (יָוָן), or Greek (יְוָנִי=יְוָנִי), Gentile or Greek (Ἕλλην=Ἕλλην), or Gentile; son of Japheth; a brother of Gomer, Magog, Madai, Tubal, Meshech and Tiras; father of Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim and Dodanim.
