A Judge living before Israel's Monarchy, first mentioned at Jdg.6.11) referred to as Gideon (גִּדְעוֹן), or Jerubbaal (יְרֻבַּ֫עַל), or Jerubbesheth (יְרֻבֶּשֶׁת), or Gideon (Γεδεών); a son of Joash; father of Jether, Abimelech and Jotham.
