Sanctification (Holiness)

To be "sanctified" is to be set apart as God''s own and shaped to reflect his character. It has a settled aspect — believers are already "saints," holy ones in Christ — and a growing aspect: "be holy, for I am holy," a lifelong remaking by the Spirit through the word, community, suffering, and obedience. Where justification is a verdict received once, sanctification is a journey walked daily, until we are finally made like Christ.
