Omniscience
God knows all things — past, present, future, and even our thoughts before we speak.
Overview
God is omniscient — he knows all things, past, present, and future, including the thoughts of every heart. "Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether" (Ps 139:4). Nothing is hidden from him and nothing surprises him.
This is searching and comforting at once. Searching, because he sees us as we truly are, with no possibility of pretense. Comforting, because he knows our griefs we cannot put into words, counts our sleepless nights, and is never caught off guard by our circumstances. The God who knows everything about you — including the worst — is the same God who chose to love you and to send his Son for you. To be fully known and still fully loved is the deepest human longing, and only the omniscient God can offer it.
