Quick answer
Those who use the world should not become engrossed in it, for the present form of this world is passing away. The world's fashion is fleeting, so don't build your life on it.
Overview
Paul concludes the "as though not" series with its rationale: the "mode" or outward form of this world is temporary and slipping away. Believers may rightly use the world but must not be enslaved to it. This eschatological awareness frees the Christian to live with open hands, investing ultimate hope in the abiding kingdom of God rather than the passing scenery of this age.
